IUI – Insemination Treatment

At our clinic, we offer insemination (IUI) as a gentle and proven method to fulfill your desire to have a child. During insemination, carefully prepared sperm is directly introduced into the uterus to increase the chances of fertilization. A smooth catheter with the cleaned sperm sample is inserted into the uterine cavity, where the sperm sample is placed in the fallopian tubes, where fertilization occurs. This allows for better timing of fertilization and increases the likelihood of pregnancy. This method is especially suitable for those who have not achieved success through natural means.

FAQ

Before the initial consultation, the questionnaire must be completed and sent to us. If any tests related to fertility treatment have been conducted in the last six months, we also request that you include those results or specify them in the questionnaire. This includes AMH levels, ultrasound reports, findings from laparoscopy or hysteroscopy, TSH levels, and sperm analysis results, if available. After the initial consultation, we can better assess which examinations and tests will be necessary for your individual treatment.

Yes, that is not a problem, as the regulations of the country where the treatment is performed apply

Most inseminations in a 28-day cycle are performed around the 13th day, but it is entirely normal to ovulate on both the 11th and the 15th day. It is said that the luteal phase should last at least 12 days until menstruation, allowing the egg enough time to implant.

No, it doesn’t hurt, but it can naturally be associated with some discomfort. We use a speculum to locate the cervix. Even though it is not cold and we use the smallest speculum, it can be uncomfortable. Most people do not feel the actual insemination. After the insemination, mild pain may occur, similar to mild menstrual cramps, as well as light bleeding.

You can do that after three months. If you undergo insemination before this period is over, there is a risk that your child may have severe birth defects.

You should wait at least two days after insemination before going to the swimming pool or taking a bath. This way, the risk of infection is minimized.

Hormone therapy supports your own hormone production and slightly increases the chances of pregnancy. In general, we do not recommend hormone stimulation for healthy women, as hormone treatment can be associated with side effects. The main side effect is the risk of a multiple pregnancy, which poses risks for both the mother and the children. Additionally, there is a higher risk of cyst formation, overproduction of follicles (egg sacs), as well as discomfort that some women experience with the medication.

Not in all cases does a cycle have to be canceled due to a cyst. However, if the cyst affects egg maturation in the ovary or the passage through the fallopian tube (during insemination), it is sometimes decided to cancel the treatment.

Yes—after a consultation with our doctors, they will create an individualized treatment plan. This will specify exactly on which day and at what time which medications need to be taken. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact us at any time.
