The Preparation

When you have decided to have a child with the help of an insemination treatment, it is advisable to undergo some examinations with your gynecologist and/or general practitioner.

More information

Blood samples

  • Hepatitis B: HBsAG and Anti HBc
  • Hepatitis C: Anti-HCV antibodies
  • HIV 1+2: Anti HIV-1/2
  • AMH and TSH (can be tested on any day of the cycle)
  • FSH, LH, and Estradiol (please test on the 2nd or 3rd day of your cycle if your cycle is irregular)
  • Rubella (German measles) if you are unsure of your immunization status.

Swabs

These examinations are not mandatory before insemination treatment but are recommended.

  • Chlamydia: A swab from the cervical mucus, which can also be tested using a urine sample.
  • Pap Smear: A cell smear from the cervix if the last examination was more than 2 years ago.

Further Examinations

If you have previously suffered from an infection or multiple infections of the uterus or fallopian tubes, or have had chlamydia or gonorrhea, there may be scar tissue formed in the fallopian tubes, which can obstruct the passage of the egg and sperm. Some women may also have infections in the lower abdomen without even noticing it.

For this reason, we recommend that you have an examination by your gynecologist before starting treatment with us.

Before insemination, it is a good idea to check the patency of the fallopian tubes, for example, with a hysterosonography (HSU) or a hysterosalpingography (HSG). With this background information, we can find the best possible type of treatment.

Age limit

In Denmark, it is legally stipulated that we can only accept women for fertility treatment who are of legal age and not older than 46 years.
